Hollyhocks are one of natures most beautiful flowers.

I was inspired to paint this scene by observing numerous homes with hollyhocks covering the yards over the years.

The multi colored hollyhocks, and the little girl in her dress and hat (perhaps just going to or coming from church) in the foreground, and the old home, bushes and flowers in the back ground, are intended to entice the viewer right into this floral landscape painting and enjoy the beauty and tranquility thereof.
